MISSION STATEMENT The mission of the Erie Fire Department is to protect the lives and property of the citizens and visitors of the City of Erie by providing the highest possible levels of service through fire prevention, public education, fire suppression, emergency medical services, and mitigation of the effects of natural and man-made disasters. The Erie Fire Department is responsible for life and property of Pennsylvania's third largest city covering approximately 20 square miles. The City is situated in the northwest corner of the state bounded on the north by a seven mile shoreline of Lake Erie. Fire Department responsibilities include:
These responsibilities are handled with 6 firehouses. There are 3 full time engine companies: E-6, E-11, E-13 and 3 dual companies: Tower-2/E-3, Tower-1/E-12 and E-8/Water rescue-1. There are 32 firefighters per shift.
