October 29, 2009 - City of Erie residents and visitors are reminded that the City’s odd-even parking regulations once again go into effect November 1st, 2009 and continue through March 31st 2010. Permitting parking on only one side of the street in designated areas, depending on if it is an odd or even numbered day. For more information click here.
October 15, 2009 - On behalf of the City of Erie and Erie Together, City of Erie Community and Economic Development Director, Kim Green, along with Debi Liebel, Project Consultant for Erie Together through the Mercyhurst Civil Institute, joined several hundred local leaders in Boston, Massachusetts October 11-13, for the 2009 National Summit on Your City’s Families. Hosted by the National League of Cities’ (NLC) Institute for Youth, Education, and Families (YEF Institute), the summit focused on the country’s most innovative initiatives promoting child and family well-being, including strategies to help families cope with the current economic climate. October 15, 2009 - On Sunday, October 18th, the City’s annual fall leaf collection begins. Once again this year, residents may continue placing all compostable items (yard, garden and leaf waste) in open hard containers on their regularly scheduled refuse night throughout the fall season. For those with large quantities of leaves, green biodegradable bags may also be used. Clear bags or any other bags will not be accepted. For more information click here.
October 1, 2009 - Perry Square Fountain Goes Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As part of an ongoing effort to aid the fight against breast cancer and promote awareness of the disease, City of Erie Mayor Joe Sinnott will host a reception in East Perry Square at Noon on Thursday, October 1st 2009 and turn the fountain bright pink. The public is invited to participate in the City’s third annual event which will feature remarks by local breast cancer survivors, music by the Young Ladies Chorus of Wayne School and more.
