June 23, 2009
Mayor Joseph E. Sinnott, along with Kim Berdis, President of the Skate Erie Association (SEA), and youth members of SEA broke ground this afternoon in Columbus Park, near 15th and Poplar Streets, in Erie’s Historic Little Italy Neighborhood for Phase I of the City’s long awaited skate park. The park will soon welcome skateboarders, in-line skater and scooter riders of all ages. For the full press release

At 10:30 a.m. today, Mayor Sinnott announced the City’s Street Improvement Program for the 2009 Construction Season. It includes milling and asphalt resurfacing of curbed and noncurbed asphalt streets, crack sealing and resurfacing of concrete streets, asphalt patching, general crack sealing, curb damage repairs and painting of traffic lines and crosswalks. In addition, Bureau of Streets daily operations such as street sweeping, installation of street signs, street light surveys, alley repairs and pothole patching will be continuing. Maleno Development announced today it will join ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to build a home for a deserving Erie family. On Thursday, June 25, 2009, the Maleno team will begin work and oversee an immense demolition and build project that will result in a new home constructed in only one week. Because five deserving Erie families are being considered for the project, information about the family and home location has yet to be released
