July 22, 2010, At the direction of Mayor Joseph Sinnott, a task force was convened in the spring, 2010 charged with reviewing the complaint and internal investigation process of the Erie Police Department (EPD). The Complaint and Internal Investigation Committee (CIIC) was formed at the recommendation of the Review Panel consisting of Elvage G. June 3, 2010, Mayor Joseph E. Sinnott announced at a press conference this afternoon that the City of Erie will once again provide summer concerts to City residents. The “Sounds of Summer” music series will get underway on Monday, June 14th at 7:00pm at the Mercy Terrace Apartments on East Grandview Boulevard. The Dixie Doodlers will play for the residents of the complex as well as citizens from throughout the City. May 26, 2010, The City of Erie’s Street Improvement Program for the 2010 Construction Season was announced by Mayor Sinnott at a press conference this morning. Improvements will include milling and asphalt resurfacing of curbed and non-curbed asphalt streets, crack sealing and resurfacing of concrete streets, asphalt patching, general crack sealing, curb damage repairs and painting of traffic lines and crosswalks. In addition, Bureau of Streets daily operations such as street sweeping, installation of street signs, street light surveys, alley repairs and pothole patching will continue. May 20, 2010, Mayor Sinnott announced at a 10:30 AM press conference this morning, the City of Erie will close the McBride Viaduct (East Avenue Bridge) between East 12th Street and East 19th Street on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. At this time, the closing shall be considered temporary to complete the final evaluation of the bridge and to determine its disposition. May 20, 2010, In order to increase the number of parking spaces in the downtown area, various downtown planning studies completed over the last several years have included a recommendation to consider back-in angle parking adjacent to Perry Square on both North and South Park Row. In the coming weeks, the City of Erie will implement a trial run of the back-in angle parking on North Park Row, between Peach and State Streets. Click here for the complete press release.
April 26, 2010, Workability – The Mayor’s Roundtable on Disabilities has worked to produce a short video called Workability, in order to dispel concerns about the challenges of hiring people with disabilities. The project was produced utilizing grant monies awarded from The Erie Community Foundation and the City of Erie Lead Hazard Control Program. March 26, 2010 - City of Erie Compost Collection Begins Sunday, March 28, 2010. Pickup is every week on your regular collection night. Compost material includes: grass, leaves, hedge trimmings, garden clipping, etc. Place compostable material in hard containers with handles (50 lb. limit). DO NOT use cardboard boxes or bags.
